Greetings dear friends! Welcome to Gemini Season, the third installment on spring's journey through the cosmos. Each season begins with a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), gets situated with a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), and performs its grand finale with a mutable sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces). Seasonally speaking, we started out with a real flashbang coming right out the gate of Aries season, the beginning of it all. During our fixed sign of Taurus, we learned how to slow it down and lavish in the art of being. And now in Gemini season, we're shifting into high gear again, getting revved up and preparing for our transition into summer. Gemini season is here in full force, our last days of spring, and we're popping up with plans and ideas of grandeur. Gemini is ruled by the element of air, which represents the mental - thoughts, ideas, words, etc. Gemini is also ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication. One with the gift of gab. Our minds may be aglow now with new thoughts, revelations, schemes, and ways to communicate like never before. At least that's the Gemini goal.
Our mutable signs are the proverbial end of the story, and so they are equipped with qualities of flexibility and adaptability. It's time to let go of whatever holds the stubborn and bullish nature of Taurus season may have had on you, and embrace the dynamic, flexible, ever-changing ways of life. Gemini is here to help encourage us to do just that.
The full moon in Sagittarius comes in bright tomorrow morning. Sagittarius is, of course, Gemini's sibling sign. As the sign of Gemini is represented by the twins, we have a strong element of duality embedded into the season. And with our full moon being in the opposite sign of Sag, that emphasis on duality is heightened. Or perhaps, the illusion of duality. We've chatted a lot around here about the paradoxical nature of just about everything, and that's no accident. The intention is to become intimately familiar with the both/and way of life, as opposed to the either/or, the black and white, the binary. Life exists in duality, thus is the nature of all. The more we learn to familiarize ourselves with it and allow it to be less conflict and more widening of our perspective and understanding, the more options and possibilities we give ourselves and the world around us. The more creativity and expressiveness we can embrace and share. We breathe in and we breathe out. The nature of duality is one breath at a time. Is it this, or that? Yes. We exist in the balance.
Gemini and Sagittarius do indeed work quite well together. Sagittarius, situated in the element of fire, ruled by Jupiter, is the sign of expanse. It doesn’t exist well in thought and idea; Sagittarius is here to make fuel into fire. To see and experience and to alchemize. To transform. And it comes in its fullness of the moon now to remind us how important it is to let go. Let go. Release attachment and bondage to thoughts, beliefs, ways and modes of being that define your identity. Experience a bit of freedom in the expression of life, and simply BE.
One of the tenants of Gemini is that it comes with rapid-fire intel on any and all subject matters. Gemini basks in being the jack of all trades. The know-it-all. But sometimes this sign can get so caught up in facts and figures and wrapped up in over-thinking it that it misses the opportunity for presence entirely. Our Sagittarius moon comes with that same quickening energy, but its energy is here to move us. To go. Having all the answers first doesn’t matter, what matters is that you might be bold enough to take decisive action. Thinking about going on a walk and actually taking a walk are two very different experiences. And occasionally it can be challenging to remind ourselves that we aren’t just brains moving through the world - we have a whole tangible body about it. That tangible body needs to be moved, to be stretched, to be dynamic, to be changed. This is the gift the moon gives us as we collectively exhale - release. Release yourself from the prison of your own mind and go see about the world.
We increasingly exist in the virtual sphere - an area that is muchly influenced by Mercurial tenants. So perhaps this moon is a call to release our attachments to the screens, even if only for an afternoon. Physical movement is encouraged. Existence IRL is preferred. Gemini can analyze and scrutinize and get down to the nitty gritty of specifics, while Sagittarius keeps encouraging our expanse. Zoom out. Zoom our even more. Capture the whole of the experience in its fullness, and embrace the magic that is now. Breathe in, breathe out. One breath at a time.
Full moon blessings to you!
