The new moon in Scorpio arrives today, here in the thick of Scorpio season, and it is ready to usher us in and take us down to the depths. As if things haven’t been deep enough, heavy enough, painful enough. As our new moons bring about that opportunity to take a full, deep, collective in-breath of the month, this new lunation comes to deepen our relationship to that which typically remains hidden. The mysterious, the unknown, the unconscious aspects of self are all ripe with potential for what is ready to be unmasked. We’re here to bring awareness to the things that typically hide just out of our view.
The moon is in its detriment in the sign of Scorpio. The moon’s ruler is Cancer, a sign that represents home, comfort, security, nourishment, and protection. And Scorpio’s energy brings the moon into a space where it may be required to leave its home, disrupt its comfort, move through insecurities, go without, and be left open to the elements. No matter how uncomfortable, inconvenient, or unappealing it may be, this new moon offers us the chance to bring awareness to that which was previously unknown, to shine a light on that which was previously unseen. Once we’ve seen, we can’t unsee. Once we know, we can’t un-know. We must move forth with what has been made conscious to us and act accordingly.
This new moon is here with that message of awareness. The things that are happening now need our tending. It is that which cannot go unknown any longer. Once we know, we then are tasked to act accordingly. This is a time now to separate from the things that no longer serve us and step into a new paradigm. When we can no longer rely on the old ways of doing things, we must bring in new remedies for all we are working with and working through. And so often, that is in opposition of the society we’re embedded within entirely. We are coming into awareness, more and more, of those aspects of life that just aren’t convenient. They’re not ready-made with six different features. They aren’t easily usable, they don’t have an immediate solution, and they aren’t here to work nice. They won’t show up wrapped in a box on your doorstep between 5 and 10pm this evening. They are in need of real sustainable change, from the bottom to the top.
And convenience is an interesting facet of our human experience. We really enjoy convenience. We actually love comfort. We like it when things are comprehensive, knowable, and predictable. When we can plan and prepare, our brains kind of go, oh okay. I can stay safe then. I’ll be ok. There’s a real connection to our bodies in those spaces, and an aspect of us that kind of thrives being on autopilot. So this can feel like a problem. Sometimes when awareness comes in, it acts as this real disruptor. It throws things for a loop and causes discomfort. And in knowing that now things are here for our awareness, to bring in the gift of consciousness, and it feels really important to look at it that way now, its a gift - to bring that in is to be able to adjust for whatever needs tending to. Whatever is overdue for your conscious awareness. And for some, this may just be everything going on in the collective right now. The disruption and destruction - to stay aware of it. To be mindful of growing complacent or of pushing it away - stay aware. For others, it may be something personal. It may be a particular pattern or way of doing things that you’ve relied on for a long time. And some things are coming up now that are telling you, hey, it isn’t going to work like that anymore. This isn’t that. And yes, that’s uncomfortable, that’s inconvenient, that’s hard or difficult to deal with, but also - you’re being presented here with an opportunity to change. With an opportunity for transformation. Are you willing to sit with the temporary discomfort in order to find a lasting, sustainable solution? Are you able to remain present and mindful in ways that can actually help you move through the shift?
Things are changing, constantly. Whether we’re ready for it or not, whether we have the resources or the support, the change is constant. And we can move through the times in awareness of that fact, as uncomfortable as it may be at times, as challenging as it may be, with ease and grace, walking alongside with it, or we can be dragged through it, kicking and screaming. Which ultimately leads to more suffering, more pain, more wounding.
So with this new moon, we invite you to bring awareness to the areas of life, big and small, personal and collective, that need tending to. That are ready for transformation. As difficult, as painful as it can be to be aware, when we know better, we have the opportunity to do better. It is in that doing better that we are able to make monumental and revolutionary change. We are here taking this breath in with you. Keep hope, do not despair. Take heart. We’re in this together.
